While there are many modern books that summarize CM's philosophy, nothing can compare to reading Charlotte Mason's own words. Taking the time to read through these volumes is absolutely essentially to fully understand the depth and breadth of her philosophy.

For the Children’s Sake by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay

Countless people have been introduced to Charlotte Mason through this book. It is a wonderful introduction that will whet your appetite to learn more.

In Vital Harmony by Karen Glass

Glass provides an excellent description of Charlotte Mason's 20 principles and how they work together to form a complete, cohesive philosophy of education.
